Region: Dalmatia - Zadar
Zadar region is the most northern part of Dalmatia, filled with a rich historical heritage and breathtakingly beautiful nature. In Zadar you will find Dalmatia’s largest examined roman forum, unique Romanic churches, eye-catching and interesting “Sea Organ”, a monument called “The Greeting to the Sun” and many more. Nearby is Nin, the oldest Croatian royal city that boasts the world’s smallest cathedral, only 36 paces long, while being surrounded by sandy beaches, five national parks and three nature parks. Intense adventures, rafting, kayak or canoe, await on either the river Zrmanja or Krupa contrasted by the NP Paklenica that provides possibilities for hiking or climbing.
Parallel alongside the coastline there are more than 200 islands (Pag, Ugljan, Pašman, Dugi otok…) beset with bays, underwater world, olive groves, fishing festivities, donkeys, cycling tracks and many more all waiting for you. The island Pag with its numerous sand and gravel beaches is renowned for its ancient olive groves, the scent of sage, fantastic sheep cheese, the production of salt, lamb meat, white wine and the lace from Pag. The nature park Telašćica and an impressive lighthouse Veli Rat are located on Dugi otok.
