Is Croatia Becoming a Celebrity Must-visit Destination?
Croatia has a certain charm which may come from simply being a part of Europe, the continent with so much history and diversity, so it is not a surprise that many A-list Hollywood celebrities have fallen in love with Croatia. Why? Its historical monuments, crystal blue sea, UNESCO world heritage sites, excellent gastronomy and anonymity. Croatian people are not star-struck and most of them wouldn’t recognise a celebrity.
So, we’ve decided to do some research and present to you some celebrities that we are sure they’ve visited Croatia. There are probably many of them we haven’t spotted yet.
The Cast of Game of Thrones
We’ve written about Dubrovnik as the Game of Thrones‘ scenery, but it is not the only location. Lokrum Island, Bokar Fortress and the city od Split have also been chosen to represent the glorious beauty of Croatian history. Emilia Clarke said: “I thought shooting in Dubrovnik was wonderful, but shooting in Split is just as, if not even more wonderful. It’s incredible. Croatia always treats us so well and this time is no exception”. Well Daenerys Targaryen, we agree with you and we would like to invite readers to visit these lovely cities, so we’ve prepared some affordable options for Dubrovnik and Split.
Anthony Hopkins and John Malkovich
Anthony and John are not your ordinary tourists. Apart from being the award winning actors, they also own villas in Istria. Could you imagine the magic Istria possesses to be able to attract these actors into becoming residents, well, why don’t you see for yourself?
Beyonce and Jay-Z
Beyonce and Jay-Z visited Croatia in 2009. Their visit attracted a lot of press, so they didn’t go quite unnoticed, but it did bring a lot to Croatia’s Tourism and we thank the couple for that. It is even rumoured that her daughter, Blue Ivy, got her name after a blue tree the Queen B saw in Croatia, which is kinda supported by the major of Hvar who named Blue Ivy its honorary citizen. The true love the couple showed for Croatia can best be described the way it was presented in the documentary :“Life Is But a Dream“ – as a breathtaking scenery viewed through the eyes of a couple in love.
Tom fell in love with Croatia in 2004 when he visited Dubrovnik and Mljet. He decided to explore the rest of this lovely country in 2012 when he chose Hvar as his go-to destination. he must have enjoyed the anonymity as he blended so well with the locals on the main square sipping a drink, enjoying life.
You may think, having read this article, that Croatia is a hidden celebrity oasis, and you’d be right. Celebrities talk and share their experiences of this lovely Mediterranean country and the list of Hollywood celebrities gets thicker and thicker as years go by.
