Biokovo
This nature park, like an imposing rocky massif over the Makarska Riviera, is a challenge for hikers and climbers. The highest peak is St. Jure (1762 m). This nature park is abundant with a rich flora and fauna.
Kopački rit
Kopački rit is a zoo and plant reserve adjacent to Osijek, and also one of the largest and most conserved marshes in Europe. The main attribute of this park is the bird fauna.
Lastovsko otočje
Lastovsko otočje is a group of larger and smaller islands and cliffs. They are rich with various types of animals and plants; however, a special place in the archipelago is left to the sea and underwater world and its flamboyant biological system.
Lonjsko polje
Lonjsko polje, which is located in Posavina, is one of the grandest and best preserved marshes in Europe. The nature park encompasses forests of common oak, bird and also fish reserves, while at the same time offering a home for numerous storks. On these grounds in 1994 the village Čigoč was pronounced to be the true European village of storks.
Medvednica
Medvednica is a mountain north from the city of Zagreb, and thus, belongs to its hiking area. The park occupies the cave system Veternica, forest reserves, skiing tracks (Sljeme), and an abundance of tracks for hikers and bikers.
Papuk
Papuk is located in the same mountain range above Požeška valley. There you will find areas of forests with water springs, mountain and biking tracks, but also leisure and relaxation in Velika spa.
Telašćica
The nature park Telašćica is a 7 kilometers long gulf on the southern top of Dugi Otok Island (Long Island). He is at the door of the Kornati islands and very well known as the most favorite yachtsmen stopping place with attractive cliffs towards the open sea and the salty lake Mir.
Učka
Nature Park Učka is settled in the mountain massif Učka nearby Rijeka city. The immediate closeness of the sea accelerates the creation of a special kind of climate and flora all the way to the top of the mountains. That is the main factor that generates extremely rich forests of laurel tree, chestnut, oak tree, beech and flower meadows. From the highest peak there is a magnificent view on the islands Cres and Krk, the Velebit, Gorski Kotar, NP Risnjak, the Alps and Venice. This area is especially interesting for mountaineering, alpinism, cycling and rowing.
Velebit
Velebit is a mountain range with two national parks and represents a climate barrier between the Mediterranean and the mountain climate of the inland. This area of the Mediterranean is also a source of the renowned cold wind – Bura. Velebit includes the shooting sites of Karl May’s films and also symbolizes the favorite destination for climbers, hikers, alpine cyclists and cavers.
Vransko Lake
Vransko Jezero is the largest lake in Croatia that spans parallel alongside the sea shore which in some places is even less than a kilometer away from the sea. This park is the best place for sport fishing but also attracts canoeists and bird observers.
Žumberak
Žumberak-Samoborsko mountain region is set close to Zagreb and represents a very popular field-trip area. It is covered by densely structured small villages, pre-historic Roman necropolises, forests and mountain meadows that provide an abundance of foot paths, riding and cycling tracks.
